A Moment Like This

Weddings...
... it could be the bride’s smile, or the relatives-get-together, the ambience, the feast, or the favours but I can’t quite grasp why I’m so fond of weddings. If only I could host a program that showcases all the weddings in the world (okay too ambitious, in Malaysia maybe), I’d be so happy!

The month of December in Malaysia is not at all about the wet season; it is also the month where most newlyweds hold their wedding receptions. And this month I’ve attended two of those.

Jay and Jasmin's of December 3rd.
.
.
Naim and Azeqa's on December 17th

The first reception was of my school bestie, Jasmin. She invited me way back in July via Facebuku. I was moved by this particular invitation because; Jasmin is tying the knot with her high school sweetheart of 16 years, Jay, who happens to be my 4th-in-line cousin. Along the way, they broke up and courted other people but their ‘jodoh’ is exceptionally strong that they keep coming back to each other’s arms.  During our school time, Jasmin and Jay played a big part in introducing us to our social circuit. Jasmin especially, taught me a lot on how to become a LADY. They were pretty much the league’s very own Blair and Chuck.

And so I booked a single return ticket; I felt very happy for this trip as a lot of things to look forward to. I knew I’d be meeting old friends, do some catching ups but foremost I’m elated as I get to meet my parents whom I miss ever dearly. Thanks to Hubs.

So here are some pictures of Jasmin's wedding.

The bride is exceptionally closed to her grandmother,
in fact on she  made it a point to kiss her grandma (to seek for her blessings)
before she proceeds to the next tentative

The moment when the three of us were drenched in tears.
The whole  proceedings were put to a halt to give us time to embrace this beautiful moment.
Just us girls.
Aida seemed smiling in this picture but
actually she cried the most and that got me in tears too.
We have shared a lot through the years.

The reception: The Maid of Honour, Aida and Has.

Another bestie of mine, Kikie.
You see, Kikie and I got married on the same date
and she's already with a fourth kid. This was taken about a week
before she delivered her fourth daughter. I'm so happy for her.

The bride's parents surprise for her, Misha Omar, her favourite singer of all time.
Misha is gorgeous!

An impromptu performance by the wedding crew, led by Aida, the MoH.

The forever 23inch waist bride, here's Jasmin and Jay.
Wishing you a lifetime of happiness.
The couple went to Maldives for a honeymoon and I can't wait for Eid next year to meet up again, I'm pretty sure they wait not for their mini-me's. Jasmin's wedding is one of the most orderly reception that I went to, everything was arranged accordingly, even it was laden with protocol, the affair remained serene, everyone had a good time. Aida and I were in tears again when they played a slide show of Jasmin's single life, there were pictures of us, the fun we had and how close we were, rush of memories made up of yesteryears.  I couldn't help but to shed more tears. And Jasmin, I must say is the most beautiful bride that I have ever seen, after my sister, AidathePinkGoddess. She looks breathtakingly beautiful, like a queen. Jay is so lucky to have her, in fact Aida and I warned Jay that if ever he intended to hurt Jasmin, we'd be right in front of his house with grenades, parangs and all... He somehow took it seriously. Indeed, what a beautiful wedding it was.

And just last week, I was invited by Azeqa, a sister of my college mate, Marina. It was nice of her mom to drop by at the office and handed the card personally. I was really excited to make it as I found out that Marina would be there too, all the way from Urbana Champaign with her son, Ayman. The last time I went to their place was during Marina's wedding about two years ago.

Here are some pictures of Azeqa's wedding.

Marina and Ayman greeted me at the entrance, oh how adorable this little boy is!

Can't contain my excitement.

Met my darling TESLians, Linda & Nadia.

Ayman!

Good boy

and smart too!

I want me some Ayman

He looks a lot like his mom

The newlyweds with the bride's parents, aunty Ros and Prof. Maarof.

My only word was, "Stunning!"

A light moment I shared with the groom, although hailed from Northern, he speaks Sarawak flawlessly!

With Azeqa and Marina. Thank you sweets.

It was a quick one I must say, I still can't get enough of Ayman, he's such a smart kid, and Marina still pretty much looking like 'anak dara', oh how lucky! Azeqa looks stunning in her bridal dress, in fact this was the first time that I've seen her being dolled up, she looks heavenly. The thing that I love the most about this wedding was the feast especially the chicken briyani rice! It was so good that Hubs and I had our second helping! Embarrassing I know but it was too good to resist! Knowing this, oh please don't deprive us of wedding invites in the future. Yes we are the couple who appreciates food :-)

I wish both newlyweds the best of married life. May they continue to love each other, more than they ever did on their wedding day. Marriage is about living with each other's imperfection and learning new things as we go along. Seek always the blessings from Allah SWT and be respectful of our partners.

Till then, here's a song I dedicate especially to the newlyweds, yes I'm cheesy like that.

**As I'm about to wrap this entry, I noticed something. I am HUMUNGOUS! and for that matter nothing looks decent on me anymore. Not even the saviour chiffon baju kurung could help me this time.
#notetoself 'must do something about it!
