Bid you goodbye, NOT!

I am saying goodbye yet to another blog.

Today I am so flustered over the fact that I've lost all the images (photos) in this blog! Do you notice the no entry signs?!

If you want to know why, then read this!
Whatever don'ts that they have mentioned there, I'm guilty as charged; by mistake! You see my Pink Galaxy Note decided to be smarty pants that resulted in me deleting the albums during reset.

I may not posted much on this blog but still, it's some sort of a memoir. Once a while I dropped by and amused myself with my jottings. Don't we all bloggers?

So in bid of pursuing my passion for blogging I decided to continue with a different account. In a blog which I have not updated for quite some time. After this entry onward, I shall be posting from this blog. I set it up in the first place to document my journey to conceive and to lose weight, which as you know have been put to a halt temporarily due to my knee injury. The blog has been abandoned since.

And now we shall meet there ya? (phantom readers of mine)

If you expect this entry will give you my highlights of 2012, sorry you'll be disappointed. I'd say it now, the happiness for me this year solely lies with the birth of my nieces. I feel so blessed. Alhamdulillah thank you Allah swt.

Encircling this single happy point in my life are knots of sadness, failure and anger. Everything went downhill from there and I must admit they're spiralling down fast. And I expect nothing more from 2013 except for the pain to go away. 2012, yes I bid you to go AWAY.
...
...

As my self-proclaimed tradition would have it, December is the month of my birthday #wishlist (oh do you notice how now people love to #hashtag in order to make a point? yes.)

20 Sept 2012

Oh hi

So many things happened instantaneously in my life recently...

I called it our blessing in disguise. That at least for my husband and I.

And I know I'm not alone.

We're all in this together.

Family supports each other, through good times & bad times.

and we're in one of those bad times.

Blog readers, if any;

Thank you for still checking up on me.

The Vow

*dusting off cob web*

Pardon my absence.

So here's a little something.

Just recently, SO granted me a brief me-time, instead of using it on an overdue pedicure, I went to watch "The Vow".

Tatum o yums!
When I got our from the theatre, I had to take a breather since I was literally asphyxiated by Channing Tatum's HOTNESS (cue: dramaaaaaa).  I went to a silent mode and asked myself a lot of questions regarding my marriage, among which;

  1. Does my husband know any of my passwords?
  2. Does my husband know what's my favourite pastimes?
  3. Does he know what are my favourite clothes?
  4. Has he ever been to my office?
  5. Would he know where I keep my personal belongings?
  6. Does he know my favourite sleeping position?
  7. Does he remember our anniversary date?
  8. Does he remember where did I keep our wedding albums?
  9. Does he remember our wedding song?
  10. Does he know/remember the first time we met?
  11. Does he know which cat do I love most?
  12. Does he know where do I keep my make up or undies?
  13. Does he know who my best friend is?
and more questions...

So I went home and bombarded him with a quiz. Out of 30 questions, he answered 22. Not bad lah.

Hence girls, if you haven't watched this movie please go and I mean now. It got me thinking profoundly of my relationship with my SO. We thought we know a lot of our partners, but actually we don't. Ask yourself this,

"What if I got into a coma, would my partner able to answer stuffs about me?"

PS:

(How can he not know where did I keep my undies?)

Watttttt?

All American Classic

Hello lovelies.

How did you spend your looooooooong weekend? Isn't Malaysia blessed with all the mid-breaks that we have and they came spot-on; just when we needed them the most, like this month. As for government servants like myself, I'm pretty sure we are all counting days like mad, for salary shall come late this month. We have got to endure the 5 weeks! And you bet I am keeping tab!

In the midst of wholemeal buns, French toast and whatever poor diet during this 'tight' month, I butter my hunger pangs by watching cooking clips on YouTube. In fact I was pretty much driven by my overdue desire to own a baking oven, just like this one over here.

Dream, dream, dream

Ever since I took the plunge to go on a diet and went cold turkey to my all time favourites, curry and deep-fried-everything; this appetite of mine can only tolerate anything baked, grilled or even smoked. I also fancy anything steamed. I self comfort by matra-ing that this is a good sign; that I finally compromise in the food intake department. Well at least for the meantime.

And another reason why I want an oven so badly is because I love these American classics;

Classic Meatloaf

And I used to get this on my birthday from my bestie's mom Aunt Kathleen, Aida's mom. She made the yummiest meatloaf ever!

And here's what my mom is great at;

The classic Pumpkin Pie!

All time family favourite, the chicken pot pie!

Roast chicken with gravy! Gah!

Watching these videos would surely make you drools no? *wipe drools off keyboard*

And I read somewhere that someone who's on a diet should never reward herself with food every time when she hits her target weight because this is the main reason why mostly diet regimes fail miserably! I took heed of that but in my defense, these foods are not what I deprive myself from, instead these are the recipes that I've always wanted to attempt on my own since the first day I got married and moved in to our own place! That's 6 years ago!

Okay perhaps I have once recipe that I may consider 'sinful' but I must try it nevertheless!

The classic CARROT CAKE with cream cheese frosting!!
Mother of all yumsies!!! *please include sound fx*

And I shall make sure that mine will look as perfect as this;

There's only once carrot and they all gotta share it!
*okay I can;t help myself, must put that lyrics!*

Oh boy, now I can't wait!!

So I must not stop persuading hubs to get me that oven!!

Here you go, my loooooooooong weekend ramblings.

Laksa Sarawak

... a nose for scrumptious food that is yet to perfect.

The thing about being away from home i.e from your comfort zone, most of the times will force you to learn how to cook your hometown dish. Simply because the restaurant outside of your town would just temper the delish out of these dishes and charge us absurdly!

So we have just got to take matters into our own hands, not? Mine is of course the ever legendary Laksa Sarawak, been cooking it for years now, I think I have perfected my own version.

And just today my pregger sis texted me asking for the recipe,
..
..

Laksa legend , okaaay!

I guess it's about time now I share the recipe with all of you, Laksa Sarawak ala Biena.

..
..

The core ingredients:A packet of beehoon (i love Jati's)
chicken breast
tiger prawns
eggs
laksa paste (Hj Manan is my fav)
lemon grass
coconut milk (it has got to be Cocolin but M&S is equally as good)
Chicken stock cubes

:::

**for 2 packets of laksa paste, my ratio is to 6 stalks of lemon grass, 2 parts of chicken breast, 20 tiger prawns and a packet of coconut milk & bee hoon. 6 hours before preparing the gravy, soak bee hoon with plain water.

:::

Firstly, boil chicken breasts and the smashed-tip-lemon-grass together. Add 2 cubes of chicken stock or a 2 big spoon of bottled chicken stock (optional) .
Boil until tender and until the broth turns cloudy. 5 minutes before you take out the chicken breasts, put in the prawns.
..
..

Once the prawns turn red (about 30 secs), take everything out;
the broth and lemon grass are to remain in the pot, still boiling.
Put them aside.
 ..
 ..

Put in the laksa paste into the boiling broth. Stir slowly. Gradually decrease heat.
Maintain heat to simmer, need not boiling.
After 20 mins, pour in the coconut milk. Stir gradually. Salt to taste.
Gravy is ready after another good 20 minutes.
 ..
 ..

While waiting for the broth to set, you can prepare the omelette.
It must be really thin. Crispy thin!!
 ..
 ..

Bee hoon, blanch for 30 seconds
..
..

Shred chicken breasts to chunks, peel the top part of prawns, slice omelette into rolls.
Slice lime and add sambal to perfect the combo
(mine is ready made in a jar, got it from Giant!)
 ..
 ..

There, there, legendary as claimed by sis (pffft)

All the best people!! Hail to Sarawak favourite dish!

**as I'm typing this, my tummy is growling mad!

Of rompers and belly dance

Oh, I hate for the fact that I have left my blog for more than 10 days! No good.

So I must put something up, regardless.

Of late, something new has kicked in, which is...

these!

Arghhh, cutie much!
..
..

How can I not buy these?

There was a car boot sale held at my work place and these adorable rompers came out from a cute guy's Toyota Vios bonnet!! In spite of his sweet smile, these rompers were sold at a very, very, very irresistible price and he claimed that the quality of these rompers are not compromised! Bliss! Sweet pea dear, or should Wa Biena call you Baby M now? You see, although these are cheap rompers, mind you Wa Biena walked almost half a mile under scorching afternoon sun to get them. Hopefully you'd look adorable in those and love Wa Biena more than Usu Elin. Gaaahh!

And Baby M, I guess Wa Biena will be in this mode from now on, because just yesterday Wa Biena dragged Uncle Epoi to Mothercare! Of course he obliged. So again, consider yourself loved, loved, loved!

Anyways...there's something else in my life that takes a turn and I pray hard it's for the better. At the moment I don't want to brag about it except for the fact that it's the most valuable birthday present thus far.

Mother of all birthday presents!

To be frank, I cried when hubs presented me with these stuff because I feel that I was coerced to do so and it didn't help when badly I want something else for my birthday and been hinting him for months... oh well. He tried to console me with these,

"Last cuppies for the year," he said.

Tonight though, after the 7th trip, (also conflicts of mind and body) and my first session with a personal trainer, I feel a glimmer of hope... a hope to conceive. I wish hard that this dream will come true, insyaallah.

Bear with me should I leave this blog unwritten for days, but I'll try my best to keep up. I may now say, not only I run a blog, but I do run for miles and I belly dance too!

With that I shall leave you with my favourite belly dance tune.

And so I turn 32

A reminder to myself that I need to stay the way I am.
Alhamdulillah I turn 32 today.
I wish nothing but a child of my own this year.
InsyaAllah.

3 Jan 2012

Input equals output

And so 2012 is here.

Got my brand new planners in a cute bandeau courtesy of the employer. This year the planners are red. I suppose the employer welcomes the year of the dragon open-heartedly. On this day last year, my office desk was already cleared out, my 2011 management files were ready to be filled up and I was good to go. It was different this year. My desk is still in a mess with open 2011 management files. Even my table calendar still reads 2011.

Blah blah

Yux yux

Simply, I am not done with 2011. They were so many things left unresolved, unspoken, undone, unforgiven; I feel that the year 2011 bid adieu way too soon it left me incomplete and unprepared. My mind is in constant clamor with my heart. The mind is consulting the heart to let go of the past and the heart is persuading the mind to be sensible. Conflict. Yet 2012 is steadily eventuating.

I must go forward. Time waits for no man as the saying goes, and I for certain cringed at the idea of being left behind. I must force myself to let go of the past, forgive and forget, trick my mind into starting anew and just never look back. If there was nothing to be proud of or be happy about, then why bother looking back? I've just got to remind myself that these feet of mine only walk forward.

And to do just that, the only way I could keep my mind off 2011 is of course the birthday month! My birthday month. January makes me happy. January cheers me up. January means love come pouring in. And January also means I turn a year older. As for this year I shall turn 32, insyaAllah.

And what is a birthday without a list of hopeful gifts coming from my loved ones? Last year was good as I got most of the items I listed; some came on my birthday and some came much later, any how they were given to me as birthday presents. Blissful moments I'd recall.

Now, why let go of a good tradition, yes?

I present you, the list.

There you have it, my birthday wish list for 2012, not in priority accordance. The last one on the list is a dream actually. And I guess it shall remain so until I retire. One can never dream too much, yes?

Nevertheless, the ultimate dream of mine for 2012 is of course to conceive. Quoting a friend, "Input equals output" hence I am trying to kick start the year living by that principle, which denotes the efforts you put in will eventually result into the things that you desire most. And I desire to become a mother, a better Muslimah, an obedient wife, a responsible daughter and sister. I also wish that this year shall bring good health to both hubs and I. And I hope for sheer sincerity in friendship that comes my way.

Here's to another twelve months of multifarious adventure; to your bliss and heartaches, success and falls, hopes and dreams!
